My circus dynasty of Ignatov-Delvary is more than 100 years old. During its history there were all kinds of performers in it, such as
|
- horse riders
- clowns
- gymnasts
- magicians
- acrobats |
- comedy musicians
- jugglers
- animal trainers
- movie and theater actors
|
The first milestone of my family was George Delvary, my grand grandfather.
He was first who in 1910 presented a trampoline act in Russia. He also created an acrobat troupe called "Men of Fire", the most original acrobat act of that time.
His daughter Valentina Ignatova-Delvary was first woman who performed a back twist from teeterboard to the top of two-man-high pyramid.
After finishing a musical academy her son and daughter (my uncle Alexei and my mother)
created a comedy musical act and became first in the circus history who danced and rapidly moved around the ring, at the same time playing such musical instruments as trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet and guitar.
My father Victor Radokhov had two group acts - trampoline act and teeterboard act. Along with his partners he was first in the circus history to perform a number of unique tricks such as triple somersault (or triple with one twist) from teeterboard to teeterboard and many other tricks, some of which nobody can repeat.
